The MSA Cairns® N5A New Yorker™ Leather Fire Helmet is one of the most recognized and respected leather helmets in the fire service. Handcrafted and shaped using time-honored techniques, the N5A delivers the quality, durability, and unmistakable appearance firefighters have trusted for generations.

Each helmet is individually formed, stitched, and trimmed to provide years of dependable service with minimal maintenance. Designed to meet current OSHA requirements, the MSA Cairns N5A New Yorker blends classic leather construction with modern safety components to support today’s fireground demands.

Replaceable Soft Goods System

As of September 2018, all MSA Cairns® N5A New Yorker™ helmets feature replaceable soft goods that are easy to remove and clean.

In alignment with cancer prevention initiatives recommended by the Firefighter Cancer Support Network (FCSN), this enhancement allows firefighters to better maintain hygiene while preserving the character of the traditional leather helmet.

• Jumbo black Nomex® earlap
• Easy removal for cleaning and maintenance

Advanced Internal Protection

While traditional in appearance, the MSA Cairns N5A incorporates modern protective components:

• Engineered impact cap for enhanced thermal, impact, and penetration protection
• Non-corroding, high-temperature glass-filled faceshield/goggle hardware
• Soft black Nomex® chinstrap with one-hand quick-release buckle and Postman’s slide
