The Tempest Special Operations Power Blower is the latest addition to the positive pressure ventilation and attack arsenal.
The fan’s unique grille and shroud design create a Laminar Air Flow (LAF) which is highly effective in unique fireground scenarios. Laminar flow is a technical term used to describe fluids which flow in parallel layers with no disruption in between. The Tempest Special Operations (SP) Power Blower mimics this effect with air flow by using a specially designed grille and shroud. Fires in large, complex structures as well as multi-level structures tend to build high back pressures inside the building. LAF’s high pressure air pattern is capable of penetrating these back pressures resulting in uninhibited PPV.

LAF is Most Effective With:
- High-Rise Structures & Stairwells
- Complex Structures
- Commercial Structures ( > 5,000 ft.)
- Increased Set Back (8'-10')

The Direct Drive SP positive pressure ventilation fans are powered by the tried and true Honda name.
Using two of their most reliable small engines, the GX200 and GX270, paired with Tempest's signature quality fan designs, these units are built to last.
At 5.5 and 8.5 HP, the GX series motors are also equipped to deliver the performance and CFM you'd expect from the Tempest name.
AirFlex Composition Impeller
These uniquely designed impeller "wings" deliver maximum air volume (cfm), velocity and pressure from each Tempest Power Blower. Each size and type of PPV fan features a blade designed specifically for it to allow the highest performance possible.
The impeller blades are made from a high strength fiberglass composite. Composite blades require less torque from the engine to spin resulting in increased CFM.
Composites also provide increased safety, as the blades are designed to disintegrate upon impact with any foreign object. Aluminum or other metal blades may chip or fragment when structural integrity is compromised, throwing potentially dangerous shrapnel in any direction.
Flip-Up/Fold-Down Handle
The exclusive full width handle design makes pushing or pulling a positive pressure ventilation fan to and from the ventilation site quick and easy.
The handle quickly swings up to a comfortable height and automatically locks firmly into position. Unlatch and easily fold the handle down for storage at the blower's listed dimensions.
Six Position Winning Step
The Dual Winning Step – on the right or left side — allows the operator to quickly adjust the air pattern direction with either foot, without having to bend over and risking back injury.
Six positions allow for greater shroud tilting, as well as forward tilting for venting down stairwells.

Rear Wheel Design
The new rear wheel design improves the blower balance while it is rolling, keeping the shroud from touching the ground and making deployment easy across snow, heavy mud or rough, uneven terrain.
This design also allows for rapid blower direction adjustment saving time and improving safety. Tempest blowers have no need for wheel brakes. This in turn removes the chance for forgetting to set/release the brakes.
Specialized Outlet Grille
Extended Set-Back This design also allows for rapid blower direction adjustment saving time and improving safety. Tempest blowers have no need for wheel brakes. This in turn removes the chance for forgetting to set/release the brakes.
Specialized Outlet Grille
The specially designed outlet grille with flat rings significantly reduces the turbulence of the air coming off the impeller blades. Turbulence robs air of energy, reducing pressure. Less turbulence means air is carried further and more pressure is created inside the structure.
Cone Air Flow fan placement has always been 4 to 6 feet from the doorway. The new SP fan is most effective at a set-back of 8 to 10 feet using Laminar Air Flow allowing improved personnel access. The new grille design makes high performance at this distance possible.
Roll Cage Frame
Roll Cage Frame
The Roll Cage Frame acts like a 360° roll bar, protecting the engine, shroud and the operator. If the fan falls backwards, the frame and back wheels touch the ground, instead of the engine. If it falls forward, the lifting handles and front legs touch the ground, not the shroud. The Roll Cage design also provides added protection for the operator by making it easier to lift and carry.
Information/Safety Bar
Information/Safety Bar
The SP Blower handle features an information bar that includes the set up and starting instructions, and safety precautions for faster and safer operation.
